Off The Rails

What happened to the USA? Where did it go?

Example 1-

Janet Napolitano’s decision to free illegals caught in a raid and issue them work permits - to the extent of having the Department of Homeland Security drive them to the office where they needed to complete the paperwork - was the rule, not the exception.

On Sunday, April 19, 2009, Secretary Napolitano went on CNN’s “State of the Union” and proclaimed that crossing the border illegally is not a crime.

Read that last line again- crossing the border illegally is not a crime. And this woman is the head of the department charged with keeping American citizens safe? How the hell can this be allowed to stand? Especially given the continuing threat from terrorism.

Example 2-

The Financial Times reports that banks and other financial institutions which received TARP funds may not be allowed to repay the loans.

Strong banks will be allowed to repay bail-out funds they received from the US government but only if such a move passes a test to determine whether it is in the national economic interest, a senior administration official has told the Financial Times.

I suppose the national economic interest now includes Obama keeping his nose poked into the banking business.

I can't believe that this is happening in America.
