Twitter

Trying out Twitter to see what all the fuss is. Certainly less time consuming to highlight a story than do a blog post. I may use it to point out items of interest which wouldn't normally make it into the blog, but we'll have to see how it holds my interest.

Any readers use it? Let me know.

Here's the link.

I can't say I care much for Twitter in general. Several people at the office use it and they get upset when you don't "follow" them.

Frankly, I don't really care about secretary's cat or where the guy in accounting had lunch so it seems like it's little more than another fad (only this one takes the worst aspects of texting and combines them with the worst aspects of social networking and blogging). It's like it's a contest to have the highest number of Myspace/Facebook/Twitter friends and I'm just a bit too old for that.

I still make use of some of Twitter's RSS feeds but that's about it. -John

I still don't get the whole Twitter-shorthand stuff and the "conversations" I've seen are impenetrable. Still, for me, it's like blogger in miniature (and faster)- a handy way to put up interesting stories without much comment other than "hey, look at this!".

The social networking side of things really doesn't interest me that much to be honest.

There's a link to my twitter posts on the main page- stories I wouldn't have had time to properly blog about.
