Al Qaeda In Britain

MI5 and police in the UK have identified at least "700 people suspected of being involved in al-Qa'ida terrorist plots".

Since the 2001 attacks in the United States, the number of identified al-Qa'ida supporters living in Britain who are considered a threat to national security has risen by 300 per cent, according to security sources.

So far there has been no mention of any arrests. I wonder if there's another terrorist attack in the UK will we eventually hear that some of those involved were known to MI5 but considered "no threat".

ONE of the four suicide terrorists behind the London bomb attacks was scrutinised by MI5 last year, but was judged not to be a threat to national security, a senior government official said yesterday.

As a result, MI5 failed to put him under surveillance and his plans to become a suicide bomber remained undetected.
