Chavez Seizing Power?

While the world's attention is focused in the Middle East, it's perhaps time that we paid a little more attention to Venezuela. It seems that Hugo Chavez wants to hold a referendum which will enable him to remain in power for the next twenty five years or perhaps "indefinitely". Under the Venezuelan constiturion he can only run for office for one more term.

And let's not forget the links between Chavez and Iran. Or the fact that Chavez is looking for a seat on the UN Security Council. At the moment there are five permanent members- and it only takes one to veto any proposal; the UN is considering expanding that to ten members. And then there's the little matter of the 100,000 Kalashnikov rifles and the MIG fighters. And the
chemical and biological agents.
