Kevin at Smallest Minority pointed out a newish post over at Eject!3 so I dutifully made my way over there for the first time in ages. Bill Whittle has an excellent two-parter there called Forty Second Boyd And The Big Picture. It's a remarkable piece of writing concerning the effort of Boyd to transform USAF doctrine and fighter design back in the days of the Vietnam War. It also concerns how his doctrine has been applied by General Petraeus in the Surge.
As with all of Whittle's work it's not only beautifully written but also incredibly informative. An absolute must read. Part One is here and Part Two here.
