Logan's Run

This is sick- arguing against using modern technology and techniques to keep the ill elderly alive for even short periods because it costs too much. The GOP needs to be very clear to the American people that this is what Obama's plans entail- rationed health care. Because at the moment all too many people are hearing is costs going down. So let’s go back to the issue of comparative effectiveness, which we’re supporting. That’s where that can have a big impact. It’s not only there, but that’s where the waste is. I am totally against socialized medicine. If people have to pay their own medical costs, they will do their own cost-benefit analysis.

Spending their own money (or their children's inheritance), most elderly people are not going to pay thousands of dollars daily to extend their life by days or weeks.

Of course government isn’t going spend many thousands of dollars on a person who will be dead shortly either way.
