Throwing Money Away

Obama doesn't think twice about giving away taxpayers' money during the middle of an economic crisis.

The Obama administration will provide an additional $20.3 million in humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza, the State Department said Friday.

The new aid is in addition to $85 million in U.S. assistance to UNWRA and $9.7 million to the ICRC for Palestinians in the region. The United States has also given $3.7 million in emergency assistance to Palestinians in Gaza since the violence began.

Nevermind the fact that Hamas- which is responsible for Gaza- doesn't seem to be too short of cash themselves.

Hamas negotiators left Egypt without a long-term cease-fire with Israel on Thursday — but not before some members of the militant group’s delegation were stopped at the Gaza border carrying millions in cash.

An Egyptian security official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said the group initially refused to be searched by Egyptian authorities at the Rafah border crossing. When the group relented, authorities found $7 million and 2 million euros ($2.5 million) in cash in their suitcases. Another security official, also speaking on condition of anonymity, said $9 million and 2 million euros were found. The discrepancy could not be immediately explained.

And yet, despite this, I seriously doubt that you'll hear any calls from Congress for a cessation to the endless aid- $2.2 billion since 1993.
