You can't make these stories up- another of the elite "only ones" professional enough beyond the skills of normal men to be fit to carry firearms demonstrates his superhuman abilities.

A Williamsport police officer accidentally shot himself in the left hand Tuesday after returning from firearms qualifying and training. Patrolman Sidney Gable was taken to Williamsport Hospital after the shooting in the basement of City Hall about 3:20 p.m. today.

Kontz said Initial reports are that Gable was cleaning the .45-caliber service revolver when it discharged.

I doubt very much if it was a revolver- but here we have another prime example of the remarkable degree of fact-checking and knowledge the MSM routinely displays in its writing on firearms. Note too the language implying that it was the firearm at fault- not the officer who failed to properly check that the weapon was not loaded.

All snark aside, he's lucky that it was his hand and not something more critical in the line of fire- or someone else for that matter.
