Blackwater 2005

It's that time of year again and the first of the Blackwater shoot-out write ups has been posted. There are also some .RM videos of the tests to view. Among the items tested are the AA-12 full auto shotgun, Polyshok shotgun ammo (Defense Review had a big write up on this some time ago I seem to recall), the HK M416, Alexander Arms 6.5mm Grendel GDMR and LeMas blended metal bullets. The latter item has been the subject of some controversy in the past but, yet again, the Blackwater Shoot seems to indicate that these bullets are highly effective. For some reason the US military is still dragging its feet over testing.

"It seems that LeMas rounds are just too powerful, the kind of bullets that rip a man’s arm off so you can beat him with it. We’re told that such power violates a zillion different treaties and agreements."

There are lots more items mentioned, including a 6-shooter grenade launcher, an armoured guard hut and a video-game-esque wireless, remote control machine gun to put on the roof of your Humvee. The second report of the Shootout is due in September. Look out for it.
