Jihad Goes On

We keep being told that the trouble in Iraq is because of American foreign policy (although it has to be said that this is largely the belief of a certain segment of American society). Somehow, it seems that the memo explaining this has gotten lost in the post somewhere between New York and Baghdad.

Following the precision assassination of Zarqawi, the remaining leaders of Al Qaeda in Iraq apparently got together and have released the following statement-

"The leaders agreed unanimously to continue the Jihad (Holy War) and plan large-scale operations that will shake the enemy in coordination with the other factions of the Mujahideen Council," said the statement posted on an Islamic Web site.

It also said that the leaders of the Council's factions agreed to renew allegiance to al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden "who will be pleased by his soldiers in Iraq."

Jihad? Don't these guys know that Islam is a religion of peace and that jihad is an internal spiritual struggle?
