Free Muslims Against Terrorism

I seem to spend a lot of time detailing the atrocities carried out by Islamic terrorism- and on more than one occasion have noted that the Muslim community has been maddeningly silent on the matter. Seems like we never hear condemnations of the violence from them. Well, today I'm glad to announce that next Saturday a group called Free Muslims Against Terrorism are holding a rally in Washington DC to support freedom and democracy in the Middle East.

The Free Muslims Against Terrorism (FMAT) are a group of Arabs and Muslims who feel that "religious violence and terrorism have not been fully rejected by the Muslim community in the post 9-11 era". It's so refreshing to see a group like this come out against terrorism that I believe they deserve all the support they can get. Their voice is the one people seem to talk about when they mention "moderate Muslims"- yet as LGF points out many of the major Muslim groups in the US are not endorsing the rally. Hopefully, this rally will draw large numbers. A quick browse through their website shows that they are in favour of modernising Islam and in doing so bringing many Muslims out of a third world/medieval existence, are opposed to blaming the Jews for the problems faced by Muslims, and are in favour of secular democracy in the Middle East. Let's hope that this group gains some widespread support from the Muslim community.
