Dragunovs in US Hands

Murdoc Online hits the mark yet again with a post on Dragunov SVD sniper rifles in the hands of US troops in Iraq. Seems that the weapons were seized in raids and put to good use by the American Forces in a counter-sniper role. So far in Iraq we've heard of US troops ditching their M16s in favour of AKs for house to house fighting and there's even been a picture of a US Marine packing a WW2-era PPsh-41.

When a modern Army finds its troops ditching their issue-weapon in favour of one dating back to WW2 then I think it's time that they took a long and serious look at the demands of the battlefield and the equipment they're issuing.
